Dream The Change, CIC trustees are delighted that we’ve won an award in recognition of the work we do supporting families/carers from BAME backgrounds, who care for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Directors and Co-founders, Jemal, Zak and Rachel and team members Souzan and, Agnieszka, all attended The Extraordinary Achievers Charity Awards, held at The Nave – Grand Junction, near Paddington, London on the 12th of March 2022.
There was a party atmosphere as we picked up our trophy, along with other award winners. It was chance for our team to dress up for the special occasion to celebrate our achievement.
The organiser said "Dream The Change, you have been selected because you demonstrate charitable excellence and high standards of ethical conduct, integrity, civic and social responsibility; your work stood out as an organisation that exemplifies ethical standards and behaviour."
Jemal said, “We would like to thank all of our funders, sponsors, volunteers, the organisations we collaborate with, and all of the families who help and participate with our events. We would not have gained this award without all of your help.
“It's great to receive this award after all of our hard work providing activities, training, support groups and workshops for our contacts over the last two years.”
We have found funding to donate special educational devices and sensory toys to several children both during the lockdowns and afterwards. We have taken families on day trips and youngsters on excursions to visit attractions in the area.
Jemal added, “Most of our trustees have children with special needs and are aware of the challenges parents face. To help parents we have organised a support group in the form of our Parent Tea sessions, both online and in person. It gives carers an opportunity to build resilience and tactics for helping their children have the best lives they can.”
Our contacts also seem to love what we do as we discovered in a recent survey that 91per cent of them said they were “extremely satisfied” with the support we give them.
